Technologies: Mini-Ject™
Mini-Ject
Pre-Filled Needle-Free Delivery System

The Mini-Ject represents the next generation in needle-free injection systems by combining the features of accuracy reliability, a variety of pre-filled options, comfortable administration, and full disposability, all within a patient-friendly, easy-to-use design.

The Mini-Ject can deliver a wide range of drugs, ranging from small molecules to large proteins, fragile antibodies, and vaccines. Delivery can be targeted to intradermal, subcutaneous or intramuscular depending on the clinical need. No other single-use needle-free delivery technology provides the same level of performance as the Mini-Ject technology with the ability to target specific tissue layers over such a broad range of drug volumes (0.1 mL to 1.3 mL) and viscosities.

Valeritas' Mini-Ject needle-free injector is small, convenient, and fully disposable.

These capabilities result from the Mini-Ject's proprietary propulsion technology, which includes a multi-phased energy system that provides accurate and comfortable drug delivery in an economical, and fully disposable design. This technology also ensures that the desired tissue layer is reliably targeted, and that no drug is left on the surface of the skin during injection, an issue with many previous needle-free delivery systems. Additional proprietary technology allows the Mini-Ject to perform easy reconstitution of lyophilized drugs as part of the Mini-Ject injection process.

The Mini-Ject is constructed with all medical-grade biocompatible materials, and is filled on a standard pharmaceutical manufacturing line. This feature minimizes costs to the pharmaceutical partner, and is consistent with a fast-to-market strategy.

How It Works:

The Mini-Ject has been specifically designed to allow patients to self-administer their injectable medication, and therefore ease-of-use has been of prime consideration in its design and functionality. The Mini-Ject is small and lightweight, and can be easily transported in a pocket or purse. In addition, the Mini-Ject eliminates the risk of inadvertent needle-sticks, and there are no sharps for the patient to handle or dispose of after use.

The device requires only a few simple integrated steps to prepare drug and administer.

  1. Remove the device from it's sterile packaging.
  2. Twist the handle until it clicks to transfer or reconstitute drug into the injection chamber.
  3. Remove safety lock.
  4. Place perpendicular to skin. Press the actuator button on the top to inject drug.
